Be notified whenever a data source fails to import/connect 🚨

SquaredUp allows you to create monitors and notification rules for any object or metric. This includes the objects that SquaredUp itself creates, e.g. dashboards, workspaces and data sources. Using this you can create a dashboard showing the status of your data sources, and subsequently add a monitor and notification rule to notify you if a data source starts failing. :rotating_light:

Build a dashboard showing data source health

  1. Create a new dashboard, and select Data
  2. In the editor, select the Index Status data stream.
  3. Under Objects, use Dynamic selection select all data sources, or manually select the ones you’re interested in.
  4. Select the Blocks visualization, and set the Sublabel to warnings
  5. Save the tile!

Set up a monitor

  1. Edit the tile you added, and enable Monitoring
  2. The default options will roll up the worst health, e.g. if there any data sources in warning or error state, the tile will match.
  3. Save the tile

Add a notification rule

  1. Browse to Monitors in the navigation bar
  2. Select Add notification rule
  3. Change the Trigger to Selected monitors in this workspace and toggle on the monitor/tile we just created.
  4. Click Save
  5. Continue configuring the notification rule as needed, e.g. Slack or Email.
  6. Click Save
  7. You’ll be notified if the state of any of the data sources change.
