"Double Hope Gateway"

We have a small branch office (~15 agents - Windows and Linux split) with a SCOM Gateway server connected back to a small domain SCOM management group in the UK.

Also, we have a Management domain Management Group which has a number of other sites connecting via SCOM Gateways.

Is there anyway to configure a “double-hop” to get alerts from the branch office to the Management domain - we can’t have the branch office connecting directly to the Management domain so would need to go via the small UK based domain.

Basically we want a Gateway from site C to be connected to SCOM MG in Site B but alerts to appear in Site A.

Any help gratefully received.

Thanks

Do the agents in the branch office (site C) need to connect to the small MG (site B) for any SCOM purposes or is it just due to network restrictions (e.g. firewalls)?

I’ve never done it but you can chain gateways: Install a Gateway Server | Microsoft Learn

You could set up a gateway in site B that is joined to the MG in site A. Then attach the gateway in site C to the gateway in site B.

As a general answer - yes, @Steve P has nailed it. You can use multiple gateways and chain them together - How to link multiple Gateway Servers together? | Microsoft Community Hub

This can cause delays in communication between the agents at the end of the chain and the Management Servers at the other end so expect setting maintenance mode etc. to take a little longer than “normal”.

Let us know if that helps or if you need more information. If the latter, it would help to briefly summarise sites \ management groups as much as you can to ensure that we’ve understood the architecture correctly.
