Is there a way in SCOM to put the computer name in the subject?

This has been a nagging issue for the longest time for me. It’d be nice if this is doable now.

If you mean, to put the computer name in the subject line of the email notification that is sent by scom, then what we do is use a html format for the mails and put the following as the subject line.

SCOM Alert ($Data/Context/DataItem/ResolutionStateName$): $Data/Context/DataItem/AlertName$ on $Data/Context/DataItem/ManagedEntityPath$

This displays the relevant information in the email, e.g.

Subject: SCOM Alert (New): Heartbeat failed on gniprdoXXXXXXX
