Hi all, I am going to do in place upgrade from SCOM 2012 R2 to SCOM 2016 , i will follow the guide from Microsoft, but I have a question due to the high number of gateways in our environment I might need to do the in phases , so is it ok that a gateway 2012 r2 report to SCOM 2016 Management Server, same as for the agents ?

We have about 100 gateways and are running SCOM 2012 R2. We always update the gateways last since we have to deploy the upgrade via SCCM for those. Be aware that all the SCOM servers including the gateways need to be running on Server 2012 R2 or Server 2016. So be aware of the OS level and MSSQL version to know that you meet the requirements for the upgrade.
