One of our customer recently asked if it was possible to only notify when the overall state of a dashboard changes (not when every single tile monitor on a dashboard changes) in order to reduce alert noise and fatigue.
With notifications rules, it is possible to choose to be alerted whenever a monitored tile changes state, or the overall workspace state, however not for the dashboard state. But the good news is there is a workaround.
Given a dashboard with e.g. 3 tile monitors, you can add a new tile on the dashboard, choose the SquaredUp Health data stream, and scope it (by choosing the objects) to the 3 tile monitors on that dashboard. Then turn on monitoring on this new tile which will inherit the state of those 3 monitors. Thereafter, you can configure a notification rule to trigger when this new tile changes state.
We’ll be looking to add this natively in the product, but in the meantime do thumbs up or comment if this worked for you.
Happy dashboarding (and monitoring )!
